MicroChem develops and manufactures specialty chemicals including photoresists and ancillary materials for MEMS, microelectronics, advanced lithography, specialty displays, packaging, optoelectronics and other dynamic technology markets. Their 76,000 square foot facility in Westborough, MA is houses their manufacturing facility and corporate offices. Now, it’s also home to LED lighting fixtures from Big Shine Energy.
MicroChem’s Green Initiatives
Every year, MicroChem invests in a project that will provide a green initiative to promote energy savings inside the facility as well as reduce their carbon footprint. This year, the project was awarded to lighting. Big Shine Energy was excited to work with a corporation that holds these values in high regard.
The facility contained high-pressure sodium fixtures which operate at high wattages and with even higher energy consumption. By using our DLC Premium products, not only would the facility see significant savings in energy, but the lighting project would qualify for funding from National Grid’s incentive program.
The interior of the facility is now housing 288 T5 LED tubes. The result was clear, crisp lighting that was comfortable to the eyes, while creating a brighter and healthier environment.
On the exterior of the building, we installed our 150W Jupiter area lights, as well as 60W and 100W Alioth Ultra wall packs. 30-year-old parking lot poles were upgraded with Big Shine aluminum poles. Their corporate sign and flag are also lit by our Pandora HD flood light.
Partnering for a Better Environment
National Grid provided $9,500 in rebates for the installation of our Big Shine LED fixtures with DLC Premium ratings. Their corporate offices are now saving $36,697.04 annually. Their green initiative efforts will be paying off in a huge way. Check out their stats below. We appreciate our partnership with MicroChem.
