LED Lighting Case Study |

Cummins Northeast – NY

Putting Others First

We didn’t have to give Jacob Stansbury a lesson in LED 101. He was already highly self-educated on the benefits of LED lighting. Mr. Stansbury is the General Manager at Cummins Northeast, a branch of the trusted worldwide brand, Cummins. Their values are reflected in their staff at every level. We say this with respect to Mr. Stansbury, who had already taken initiative on how to improve the work environment for his employees by doing his own research. At the same time, his research led him to the impressive evidence of overhead savings from LED lighting. Once he and our energy consultant met together, they quickly began planning the best solution to the current lighting setup at the Cummins Northeast Sales and Service Center.

Putting a Plan Into Action

The original lighting in the workshop was too dark. It produced a challenging work environment. Mr. Stansbury was equally concerned with the health and safety of his employees. He knew the foot-candles had to increase and the entire facility would benefit from a lighting upgrade.

Once the necessary audits of the facility were completed, our consultant was able to provide solutions for each of Mr. Stansbury’s main concerns. After the installation, foot-candles increased by 30% throughout the 25,000 square foot facility.

We were able to achieve the level of brightness and clarity by using customized fixtures. Our modern and sleek LED tubes were installed in the facility’s interior. Along with our Oriya linear high bays and explosion proof high bays, the facility’s exterior now features our Alioth wall packs.

Action Brings Results

The new lighting will save 72,852 kW/h and National Grid provided $16,119 in rebates for the project. Through this lighting upgrade, Cummins Northeast is keeping in step with the corporate mission to do what leads to a cleaner, healthier, safer environment.
