On May 15–16, 2025, Big Shine Energy held its annual electrical and OSHA safety training for over 25 leaders in our installation department. This specialized training supports our commitment to workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous team development.
Expert-Led Safety and Code Training
To ensure the highest quality training, we partnered with Lancaster Safety Consulting. Lancaster is a national safety and compliance firm that helps businesses reduce incidents and meet OSHA requirements.
From Lancaster, Bill Ross, an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer for both Construction and General Industry, led the safety portion. His sessions focused on:
- Electrical hazard awareness
- ARC flash risk prevention
- Ground fault protection
- Safety leadership
- General OSHA best practices
In addition, we welcomed Steve Kavallaris, CEO of Electrical Time. He is the first Mike Holt Certified Instructor Trainer in New York State. His instruction focused on key areas of the National Electrical Code (NEC)—Articles 240 and 250.

NEC Code Focus: Articles 240 and 250
Article 240 – Overcurrent Protection
This article outlines how to protect electrical systems from excessive current using fuses and circuit breakers. It is essential for preventing equipment damage and electrical fires.
Article 250 – Grounding and Bonding
This section ensures that all electrical systems are properly grounded. Grounding reduces the risk of electric shock and helps stabilize voltage levels.
These two articles play a critical role in safe electrical design and installation. Understanding them is essential for any electrical leader.
A Culture of Continuous Learning
This leadership-focused training is part of Big Shine Energy’s broader safety culture. We believe that education is ongoing, especially in a field that evolves as quickly as energy and construction.
By training our installation leaders each year, we ensure they stay ahead of compliance changes, improve job site decision-making, and reinforce safe practices across all projects.
Results That Matter
More than 25 team leads participated in this two-day session. They gained practical knowledge, code updates, and actionable insights. Most importantly, they left better prepared to lead safe and efficient teams.
