Big Shine Energy Supports DOD’s National Clean Energy Month

Big-Shine-Energy-Action-Month

On September 30, President Biden issued a proclamation designating October as “National Clean Energy Action Month,” prompting the Defense Department to reaffirm its commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

Department of Defense Climate Action Plan

Understanding the impact of climate change on military operations both domestically and internationally, the Department of Defense drafted a climate action plan based on three fundamental principles: adaptation, resilience, and mitigation. The plan includes:

  • Reducing energy demand to increase efficiency
  • Expanding on-site clean energy generation and storage
  • Rapidly scaling the purchase of clean energy solutions and innovations
  • Adopting alternative energy sources such as sustainable fuels and hydrogen
  • Pursuing alternative power generation technologies
  • Accelerating technology innovation and adoption

Mission Ready Through Modernization and Resiliency Event

To fulfill these targets, the Department of Defense hosted a “Mission Ready Through Modernization and Resiliency” event on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, as part of Energy Action Month. Big Shine Energy was proud to participate in this event.

Big Shine Energy’s Contributions

During the event, Big Shine Energy showcased photovoltaic module technology as a source of renewable energy and battery energy storage systems for resilience. We also shared essential tips on how individuals can reduce their carbon footprint and provided interactive games for attendees to enjoy while learning.

Event Highlights

The event highlighted numerous innovative projects and initiatives, including:

  • Renewable Energy Showcase: A diverse range of renewable energy technologies, from solar and wind power to geothermal and bioenergy solutions, were on display.
  • Energy Efficiency Initiatives: Emphasis on energy-efficient building practices and smart grid technologies to reduce energy consumption and costs.
  • Resilience and Sustainability: Discussions on building resilient infrastructure and adopting sustainable practices aligned with our mission to provide reliable and environmentally friendly energy solutions.
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations: The launch of new EV charging stations at the Pentagon marked a significant step towards greener transportation.
